Yarns and Threads
Melanie in Idaho is the busy mother of three girls and somehow manages to maintain a terrific and informative blog called Yarns N Threads. Melanie is a fiber artist that works knitting, spinning, crocheting, tatting and other fiber arts into her busy day.
Steeking was the subject of the first post I read at Melanie's blog, and I found out that she teaches the technique, and plans to help out her local police department with donated teddy bears from her class.
Another interesting post was about her dyeing adventures, where she duplicated dyed roving that she saw in a magazine. The resulting yarn turned out beautifully.
Melanie is a fast knitter, and the recent projects she noted on her blog, in addition to the small sweater and hand spun yarn, are two top down knitted sweaters, a neat little knitted hat and another sweater. Melanie is generous with her credits and it's easy to find out from her posts what yarns and patterns that she used. She is creative with color and her knitted piece are lovely.
Melanie belongs to several web rings and Knit-a-longs and the blog's sidebar lists some great resources for fiber and yarn! Be sure to visit Yarns N Threads and tell Melanie how great her blog is!
