Welcome to the debut issue of

Fiber Femmes!

Great Women Building a Gracious World

The original Fiber Femmes, Leslie Shelor, Greenberry House, and Sandra Bennett, Thistle Cove Farm, share a kindred spirit and background. Leslie lives in the Blue Ridge and Sandra in the Appalachian Mountains of southwest Virginia. Our families have been in these old mountains for generations as pioneers, farmers, coal miners and, in Sandra's case as shepherds. Leslie and Sandra share a common Appalachian heritage, compatible business goals and a love of creation that involves animals and fiber.

Leslie is the creative genius behind the formidable layout and design of Fiber Femmes e-magazine and Sandra is responsible for publicity, public relations, marketing and editorial content. Even though we each have our areas of expertise, it's always a collective venture with decisions made for the betterment of Fiber Femmes e-magazine. Over the years, we've formed a comfortable working relationship and friendship, a shared appreciation for solitude and enjoy our lives, our farms, our families and our friends.

Fiber Femmes blog chronicles our daily activities and is our touchstone with each other. We'll discuss  fiber happenings, showcase photos and compare notes.

Fiber Femmes debut issue features Carol Lee, a Fiber Femme artist for more than thirty years and bursting with knowledge, expertise and a great attitude. If you have the opportunity, travel to Wyoming and take one or several of her weekend classes. TOO MUCH FUN! She enjoys using Cotswold fleece so that's our first Fiber Feature. Other Femmes from around the globe share articles and photography along with a crochet sock and knitted hat pattern. Big Girl Knits gets a nod of the head and our regular features includes swaps, charities, photos, news events, Fiber Femmes Firsts, puzzles, games, links and contests.

Sign up for the Fiber Femmes newsletter and, hopefully, win a prize. The 100th subscriber was Cathy, the same of the Crochet Toe-Up Sock pattern and we've suggested she buy a lottery ticket! Cathy receives a periwinkle blue Rolodex business card holder that will hold 76 Fiber Femmes business cards, a place for her own business card, pen holder and a notepad. Similar gifts will be given to future surprise subscribers so sign up NOW!

If you'd like to write an article, know a Fiber Femme who should be our Focus, have some great photos, know some really fun websites...don't keep it a secret, Fiber Friend...share. Let Fiber Femmes the world over know what you know. As time goes by, we'd like to  sponsor a scholarship to SOAR; in order to help, please visit Enhance Your Stash and buy something fibery.

Oh yeah...the onomatopoeia thing...it's a Fiber Femmes Fun thing so...

Let the Fiber Femmes Fun begin!
