The Knitting Fairy
Alissa has been teaching knitting and crocheting almost since the day she learned how and started her business in 1996 because of requests from her students for her patterns. The Knitting Fairy is a glory of wonderful knitting and crocheting patterns. Here you can find patterns for almost anything you can imagine, from socks to hats to afghans to children's clothing. A couple of the patterns meant for children's blankets would delight me in my living room! And I can't help but love some of her tea cozy patterns, even though most of them are knitting patterns and I'm knitting challenged.
There are a bounty of patterns for sale, but Alissa also generously offers a long page of free knitting patterns, featuring a "Murder Mystery" book bag and hat. There are also plenty of scarves, another hat and bookmarks (I get the feeling Alissa and I would get along fine if we ever had the chance to talk about books and crocheting).
Alissa teaches in the Fort Worth/Dallas area and beyond, and is available for private lessons, classes and workshops. In the last issue of Fiber Femmes, we featured a terrific article on knitting increases that she wrote; check our archives page.
